‘Ride for Unity’ Returns to Reconnect Communities in the Middle East
Business Leaders, extreme adventure athletes, Paralympians and trailblazers return to the UAE on Ride For Unity’s 2025 Whistle-Stop Tour: Road to Resilience, to spread the message of unity, reconciliation, community and tolerance.
15 January 2025 – Dubai, UAE – After the enormous success of Ride For Unity’s 7 Days / 7 Emirates Tour through the UAE last January, the organization has returned for a two-day tour on January 16-17, 2025. Ride for Unity (RFU) has gathered 15 riders comprised of world-record breaking athletes, extreme adventurists and business leaders to cycle up Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE at 1,934m, visit the WellSpring Private School and hold a free public event, ‘Humanity in Leadership: The Future of Connection, Sustainability and Resilience’ at the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in Dubai on January 17th at 5pm.

Avishka Fernando’s record-breaking fifty powers Sharjah Warriorz to victory over Dubai Capitals
- “I wanted to play my natural game, and I thank God for how things turned out. The wicket was great to bat on, and when they scored 200, I knew I had to play positively. Dubai, January 17, 2025: Avishka Fernando electrified the Sharjah Cricket Stadium with a blistering innings, leading the Warriorz to a record-breaking chase in DP World ILT20 history. Chasing 202 against the Dubai Capitals, Fernando smashed an extraordinary 81 runs off just 27 balls, reaching his half-century in a record-breaking 16 balls—the fastest in the tournament’s history.

It was because of the way the bowlers were bowling and the leg-side boundary was big, so I was looking for runs on the shorter boundary” said Player of the Match, Fakhar Zaman

Dubai, January 16 2025: Fakhar Zaman lit up the Dubai International Stadium with a stellar knock of 67 runs in 52 deliveries to secure a five-wicket victory for the Desert Vipers against the MI Emirates.

Fakhar Zaman and Alex Hales’ knock of 34 runs gave the Vipers a strong start in the run chase. Zaman and Sam Curran then erected a 65-run stand through the middle overs while Sherfane Rutherford powered his way to 21 runs in eight balls to chase the target of 160 in 19.1 overs.
