Abu Dhabi, UAE – May 6, 2026 – Special Olympics UAE has announced the publication of a peer-reviewed scientific study in the internationally recognized medical journal, Frontiers in Oral Health, marking a significant milestone in inclusive health research and reinforcing the UAE’s global leadership in this field.

Drawing on data collected through the Healthy Athletes program, the study reflects a structured, institutional approach to leveraging field data to inform the development of specialized healthcare services for People of Determination, enhancing responsiveness to athletes’ needs and improving the quality of care provided.

دراسة علمية محكمة تنشر في الدورية الطبية “فرونتيرز إن أورال هيلث”

شارك في الدراسة 656 لاعبًا تم فحصهم ضمن 10 فعاليات صحية نُفذت بين سبتمبر 2022 ويوليو 2025، في إطار برنامج الكشف الصحي وتخصص “صحة الفم والأسنان”.

أبوظبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة 6 مايو 2026: أعلن الأولمبياد الخاص الإماراتي عن نشر دراسة علمية مُحكّمة في دورية “فرونتيرز إن أورال هيلث- Frontiers in Oral Health“ الطبية المرموقة، تمثل خلاصة فحوصات أجريت في إطار برنامج “الكشف الصحي”. وتعتمد الدراسة نهجًا مؤسسيًا قائمًا على توظيف البيانات الميدانية بشكل منهجي لإنتاج معرفة علمية تدعم تطوير الخدمات الصحية الموجهة لأصحاب الهمم، بما يعزز كفاءة الاستجابة لاحتياجات اللاعبين ويرتقي بجودة الرعاية المقدمة لهم.

استندت الدراسة إلى تحليل بيانات 656 لاعبًا تم فحصهم خلال 10 فعاليات صحية نُفذت بين سبتمبر 2022 ويوليو 2025، في تخصص “صحة الفم والأسنان” ضمن برنامج الكشف الصحي، لتوفر بذلك قاعدة بيانات علمية غير مسبوقة على مستوى الدولة ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.

وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة مؤشرات إيجابية تعزز فرص تطوير ممارسات العناية بصحة الفم والأسنان، بما يدعم تصميم برامج وقائية وتوعوية أكثر فاعلية لذوي الإعاقات الذهنية والنمائية، إلى جانب تطوير نماذج رعاية صحية متخصصة قائمة على الأدلة. كما تشير هذه النتائج للدور الحيوي الذي يلعبه برنامج الكشف الصحي في الرصد المبكر، وتوفير قاعدة بيانات دقيقة تسهم في الارتقاء بالخدمات الصحية وفق أفضل المعايير العالمية.

UAE Leaders Tour Burjeel Medical City’s Healthcare Ecosystem

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil briefed UAE President on Burjeel Holdings’ integrated healthcare ecosystem.

Abu Dhabi, May 06, 2026: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, visited the Burjeel Holdings booth at the IHC pavilion during his visit to Make it in the Emirates 2026, where he was apprised about the future of Burjeel Medical City, the flagship facility of Burjeel Holdings, and the Group’s integrated healthcare ecosystem. Mr. Syed Basar Shueb, Managing Director and CEO of IHC, was also present with Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of VPS Health, and Chairman and CEO of Burjeel Holdings, during the visit.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, also visited the Burjeel Holdings booth.

During the visit, Dr. Shamsheer briefed His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Burjeel’s vision to develop a next-generation healthcare ecosystem in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. He explained that the future of Burjeel Medical City will bring together advanced clinical care, cancer care, medical education, research, and global expertise to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s role as a hub for specialized and complex healthcare.
