A new way to share your music with friends, straight from Spotify

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 30  July 2026: Snapchat has introduced Now Playing on Snap Map, a new way for Snapchatters to share what they’re listening to with friends. Snap Map is already one of the most popular maps on mobile, with more than 450M people using it each month, and Now Playing adds a new layer of expression to the experience.

Starting with Spotify, Snapchatters can link their account, choose who can see their listening activity, discover songs through the people they already talk to every day, and save tracks to Spotify from Snap Map, Spotlight, and Sound Pages.

“Music is one of the most personal ways people express themselves, and it becomes even more meaningful when it brings friends closer,” said Snapchat Head of Music, Manny Adler. “Now Playing adds a new layer of expression and discovery to Snap Map, helping Snapchatters share the soundtrack to their day and find new music through the people they already know.”

How it works

Now Playing lives on Snap Map, where Snapchatters can see what friends are listening to in real time. Users can tap a track to explore Spotlight videos using the same sound, open it on Spotify, or save it to their Liked Songs. Snapchatters can also save songs directly to Spotify from Spotlight videos and Sound Pages.

Linking a Spotify account

Linking a Spotify account is simple. Users can connect Spotify through entry points on the Map, Sounds, friend profiles, or in Settings. Once linked, Snapchatters choose who can see their Now Playing status:

• Friends — share with their friends on Snapchat
• Friends on the Map — share only with friends they’ve already shared their location with
• Select Friends — choose specific friends
• No one — do not share listening activity

Now Playing is out now wherever Spotify and Snapchat are available, with Canada coming soon.
