EGA awarded honorary ‘Green Industries’ label by Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi for environmental performance at its Al Taweelah site

United Arab Emirates, 18 July 2022: Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside of oil and gas, has been awarded an honorary ‘Green Industries’ label by Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi for environmental performance at the company’s Al Taweelah site.

EGA to build pilot plant to make soil products after R&D breakthrough on use of globally-challenging waste stream

• Follows five years of R&D into economically-viable uses of bauxite residue, a waste stream from alumina refining
• Pilot plant thought to be first of its kind in the world, and follows EGA scientific breakthrough
• Further novel applications for bauxite residue expected from EGA’s R&D
