Golden Heart Initiative Heals 50 Children Globally in Honor of Entrepreneur M.A. Yusuffali’s 50 Years in the UAE 

Children with congenital heart diseases, from conflict zones and underprivileged families, received free life-saving surgeries under the initiative by Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil

ABU DHABI: It’s a new dawn for 50 children around the globe! Their lives will shine brightly, thanks to the Golden Heart Initiative, a global philanthropic mission launched by Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, a healthcare visionary and the Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings.

Started on January 1, 2024, the Initiative, which offered free life-saving heart surgeries to children with complex congenital heart diseases, has been successfully completed.  Envisioned as Dr. Shamsheer’s heartfelt tribute to the 50 glorious years of ace entrepreneur and philanthropist M.A. Yusuffali in the UAE, the Initiative focused on children from conflict zones and underprivileged backgrounds, spanning cultural and geographical boundaries. Dr. Shamsheer is married to Dr. Shabeena Yusuffali, the eldest daughter of Mr. Yusuffali.

  • Fajr Capital-led consortium, which includes Emirates Investment Authority, Al Dhow Holding Company (the investment arm of AlSayer Group), Hana Investment Company (a subsidiary of Olayan Financing Company) and Wafra International Investment Company, completes the acquisition of 65% stake in Aster GCC
  • Aster GCC set to embark on an ambitious expansion plan across the Gulf region, especially in Saudi Arabia, and enhance access to high quality healthcare across physical and digital channels

Management of Urinary stones:

Stones within the urinary tract are one of the commonest problems faced by Urologist and especially by patients in the Middle East. This is because of their young demographic, climatic conditions and dietary habits.

Stones can occur in the kidney, the ureter (tube that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder) and urinary bladder.

BIRMINGHAM SCIENTISTS WIN FUNDING TO DEVELOP “LOLLIPOPS” FOR MOUTH CANCER DIAGNOSIS

  • Prototype flavoured ‘lollipop’ could lead to earlier mouth cancer diagnosis
  • Birmingham scientists awarded £350,000 to develop promising research
  • Project hailed as “an exciting first step towards an entirely new way to identify mouth cancers”

A ‘LOLLIPOP’ that can diagnose mouth cancer early could become a reality, thanks to a pioneering project funded by Cancer Research UK and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Dr Ruchi Gupta at the University of Birmingham has been awarded £350,000 over the next three years by Cancer Research UK and EPSRC to make a prototype flavoured ‘lollipop’ from a material called a smart hydrogel.
