Second quarter gold demand hits record highs, supporting rising prices

The World Gold Council’s Q2 2024 Gold Demand Trends report reveals that total global gold demand increased 4% year-on-year to 1,258t, marking the strongest Q2 in our data series[1]. Total demand was supported by healthy over-the-counter (OTC[2]) transactions, up a notable 53% year-on-year at 329t. 

Increased OTC demand, continued buying from central banks, and a slowdown in ETF outflows drove record-high gold prices in Q2. The gold price averaged US$2,338/oz, 18% higher year-on-year, reaching a record of US$2,427/oz during the quarter.

The Abu Dhabi Business Centre at the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) announced the addition of 12 new economic activities to the Tajer Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi Trader) license, allowing investors to obtain economic license without the need to work from a physical location or to pay rent on commercial space for three years.

30thJuly2024, Abu Dhabi, UAE:The Global Climate Finance Centre (GCFC), an independent entity focused on catalysing climate investments and solutions globally, and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA),the lead intergovernmental agency for the renewables-based energy transition, today announced a strategic partnershiptoscale-up climate finance and renewable energy initiatives globally.  The MoU signing was witnessed by Mr Salem Mohammed Al Darei, Chairman GCFC and Dr. Nawal Al-Hosany, the Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
