Dubai, December 11, 2023:    Footwear and leather goods exporters today said that the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) offers a robust growth opportunity for the trade with retail spending power estimated to be surging in the range of 6-8 per cent CAGR across the region with the UAE and Saudi Arabia leading the trend.

Speaking at a press conference on the opening day of the region’s largest footwear and leather goods show – DIFLEX 2023- senior officials representing some of the global leather hubs – Egypt, India and Turkey – said the growth potential of MENA is amplified in the light of the data by Statista that non-food retail sales in the GCC alone is estimated to reach over USD 150 billion by 2026.

وقع مذكرة التفاهم كل من سعادة طلال الهاشمي المدير الوطني للأولمبياد الخاص الإماراتي، والدكتور لانس دي ماسي رئيس الجامعة الأمريكية في دبي، وتضمنت بنودها عدة أوجه من التعاون بين الطرفين مثل تنظيم ورش العمل للمدربين والفنيين والإداريين العاملين في القطاع الرياضي بالتعاون مع كلية التربية في الجامعة لزيادة الوعي بأهمية الدمج وسبل تحقيقه، وتسهيل فرص التطوع لطلاب الجامعة خلال المنافسات والبطولات والفعاليات والمبادرات التي سينظمها الأولمبياد الخاص الإماراتي في مختلف إمارات الدولة.

Special Olympics UAE Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the American University in Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – December 11, 2023: Special Olympics UAE and the American University in Dubai (AUD) have signed a memorandum of understanding that aims to boost cooperation and exchange of valuable experience and knowledge related to sports activities for People of Determination.

The MoU raises awareness about the significance of inclusion in society and methods to achieve it. Additionally, the MoU terms involve facilitating volunteer opportunities for AUD students during competitions, tournaments, events, and initiatives organized by Special Olympics UAE across the emirates.

The MoU was signed by His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, National Director, Special Olympics UAE, and Dr Lance De Massey, President of the American University in Dubai. The comprehensive terms of the agreement encompass various collaborative initiatives, including organizing workshops in partnership with AUD’s College of Education, aimed at coaches, technicians, and administrators working within the sports sector.
