UAE’s Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities and Greece’s Aristotle University agree to collaborate

Thessaloniki, Greece; 16 February 2024

Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities and Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in areas of common interest. The partnership seeks to enhance the capabilities of both parties in the academic field, while also contributing to stronger cultural ties between UAE and Greece as well as supporting community development initiatives.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of His Excellency Dr.Mohamed Rashed Alhameli, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities with Dr. Karima Matar Al Mazrouei, advisor to the chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, signing on behalf of the university. Meanwhile, Professor Apostolos Apostolides, vice president, signed for Aristotle University.

Canadian University Dubai hosts visit from the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Honourable Dr.Andrew Furey discusses the shared vision and values of the university and his home province

February 15,2024, Dubai, UAE:The Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, has met with students, faculty, and staff during a recent campus visit to Canadian University Dubai (CUD). Premier Furey discussed the professional and lifestyle opportunities in Canada’s youngest province and reflected on the shared vision and values of Canada and the UAE in a time of accelerating innovation and green transition.

Introduced by Nora Barsonfrom the CUD Schoolof Management, the afternoon’s ceremonial proceedings began with the national anthem of the UAE performed by the President of the CUD Student Council, Shaima Jamal Alhai, followed by the Canadian national anthem, performed by faculty member and internationally acclaimed Canadian pianist, Sanaz Sotoudeh.Welcoming Premier Furey and his delegation to CUD, Chancellor, Mr. Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, spoke about the institution’s dedication to Canadian educational principles.

Trusity, an accredited educational platform, recently celebrated the journey of its graduating cohort from the truPreneurs program. The young entrepreneurs showcased their innovative projects at the Final Investor Pitch Competition, highlighting their dedication to innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable global development.

Shivansh Soni, a talented Grade 9 student from JSS Private School, Dubai, emerged as the winner with his innovative project aligned with UN SDG goals 11, 13 and 15, “Scoop the Poop.” This sustainable and recyclable product ingeniously converts dog waste into compost, earning Shivansh the coveted Startup Package valued at AED 10,000. Prajit Sarkar (Grade 10, Gems Modern Academy) secured the 1st runner-up position with his project aligned with UN SDG goals 6 and 11,, “AQUA MERGI,” designed to reduce water wastage. Rishit Yadav (Grade 9, Delhi Private School, Sharjah) stood as the 2nd runner-up with a versatile robot F.R.E.E (Fire Rescue and Exploration) designed for disaster reconnaissance, adaptable to earthquakes, nuclear incidents, and other disasters, a project aligned with UN SDG goal 11.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates:For the last 65 years, GEMS Education has been putting ‘Family First’ at the heart of its teaching, and today the UAE’s largest private education provider announced plans to incorporate this core principle in a new movement for global change while supporting the UAE Leadership’s agenda for social change.

The initiative was launched at GEMS World Academy – Dubai by His HighnessSheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. VIP guests included Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of Dubai’s Community Development Authority, who addressed the audience of some 500 GEMS family members, including GEMS Education Founder Mr Sunny Varkey, students, parents, and grandparents.
