His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the allocation of AED 2.5 million to provide public and governmental libraries across the Emirate with the latest publications from Arabic and international publishers participating in the 16th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival.

At the 16th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), a dynamic panel “Stories that Unite”, explored how children’s literature serves as a bridge across cultures, generations, and worldviews. The panel, moderated by Pulse 95 news presenter Aisha Al Maazmi, featured notable voices: Rhonda Roumani, Syrian-American journalist and children’s author; Dr Nizar Al Qamari, scholar of brain aesthetics; Badria Al Shamsi, prominent Emirati author; and Al Hassan Benmouna, award-winning Moroccan author-illustrator.

As music filled the air, a robotic figure took centre stage beside a nimble performer to present “Dancing With a Robot” – a futuristic performance blending technology and movement.

The session titled “Taste of Palestine: An adventure with chef Maha Kailani” introduced young children and their guardians to authentic flavours from the Palestinian region.

From board books and popup books to colouring books and encyclopedias, the world’s biggest book sale has found a new home at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival 2025

Who would think that an evil character from a children’s fable will be a crowd-puller? Not if it is the Big Bad Wolf from the Little Red Riding Hood story that had regaled millions of children for generations. The world’s biggest book sale, which was introduced to the UAE by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), has come to the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival 2025 (SCRF) for the first time, offering discounts as high as 85% thus giving children and their guardians every reason to fully embrace books and reading.
