Visitors to the ongoing 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) were in for a treat Friday as they got to meet and greet two friendly, gigantic robots roaming the halls and lobbies, spreading smiles with their cheeky personalities. But if you missed the show then fret not because the colorful, interactive mascots – one in cool blues and the other in perky pink – are all set to create unforgettable experiences for fairgoers until the last day of the fair on Sunday.

Kalimat Foundation unveils 20 new audiobooks for the visually disabled and gifts portable library to Morocco’s IBBY at SIBF 2024

The non-profit organisation champions inclusive access to knowledge and promotes the love of reading during their participation at 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair.

  • Audiobooks in collaboration with publishing houses including Kalimat Group, Altafarud Design and Publishing Services, Rabie Publishing House, Hudhud Publishing & Distribution, and WOW for Publishing and Educational Services, and Thaqafa Publishing House and Distribution.
  • Through their “Pledge a Library” initiative, Kalimat Foundation donates a portable library containing 100 Arabic books to SIBF Guest of Honour, Morocco.
  • Participation includes workshops and reading sessions promoting inclusive education.
  • Merchandise collections such as “Stitching Hope for Gaza” and “KF x Mohammed Al Mansoori” raise funds for noble causes.

The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), as part of its Guest of Honour programme celebrating Morocco, hosted a session titled A Symposium on Moroccan Andalusia, exploring the rich, intertwined heritage of Morocco and Andalusia. Distinguished panellists, including Dr. Ahmed Chaouki Binenine, Ahmad Shahlan, and Fatima Tahtah, guided by moderator Mohammed Laamarti, shared insights into how the Andalusian legacy continues to shape Moroccan and Andalusian identities across politics, culture, philosophy and the arts.
