Young entrepreneurs pitch to investors at Global Entrepreneurship Week Finale

November 28,2023 , Dubai, UAE:A team of students from Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has secured AED 10,000backing for their innovation, which aims to promote responsible consumption and reduce food waste. The award was made during the Finale of the University’s program of events for Global Entrepreneurship Week, which saw ten teams pitch their innovations to a panel of industry experts, investors and established entrepreneurs.

Known as Byte, the winning innovation builds on existing artificial intelligence technology to deliver a smart solution to meal planning. It aims to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) targeted at food security and responsible consumption. The project pitch was delivered by second year Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security student, Ralph Sengco, representing a cross-disciplinary teamthat also included business students Hanna Gajol and Rachelle Hombria.

Explaining the inspiration behind the project, Sengco said, “The idea came from my own experience of mealtimes as a busy student, thinking about what to cook based on what is in the fridge, keeping in mind product expiry dates, and the need to create something quick, delicious and nutritious .The technology we have developed offers a one-stop solution that creates recipes tailored to the ingredients available, as well as other criteria based on the user’s preferences. It also takes account of dietary requirements and food allergies and intolerances.”

Dubai, UAE:BITS Pilani Dubai Campus has observed a substantial increase in overall student enrollments for the 2023-24 academic year, achieving noteworthy milestones in academic achievements. This surge is exemplified by the highest enrollment from the UAE in the first-degree programs over the past five years, indicating a growing preference for BITS Pilani Dubai Campus (BPDC) among students from the UAE. Simultaneously, there has been a notable increase in admissions from India, reaching the highest figures in the past 13 years, highlighting the institution’s appeal for quality education and global exposure.

Moreover, there has been a remarkable 90% rise in higher degree enrollments this year compared to the previous year, emphasizing the confidence that students have in BITS Pilani Dubai Campus for advanced education and specialization in their chosen fields. Furthermore, the campus has seen an unprecedented 150% increase in Ph.D. enrollments, establishing a new record for the highest number of applications in its history and reinforcing its standing as a prominent center for advanced research and academic endeavors!

جامعة دبي تستضيف بنجاح مؤتمر نموذج الأمم المتحدة 2023

استضافت جامعة دبي بنجاح مؤتمر نموذج الأمم المتحدة 2023 للشباب بمشاركة دولية متنوعة والذي عقد بمقر الجامعة في مدينة دبي الأكاديمية مؤخرا، وجمع المؤتمر 118 مندوبًا إلى جانب 10 خبراء من ذوي الخبرة، و 26 مشرفا من جنسيات مختلفة وخمس قارات، مما مثل احتفالًا حقيقيًا بالتنوع العالمي.

كان المؤتمر بمثابة منصة حيوية للحوارات الدولية، وتعزيز الدبلوماسية والتعاون والنقاش المستنير بين المشاركين الذين ينتمون إلى 10 جامعات ومؤسسات تعليمية مختلفة داخل الدولة منها جامعة دبي، وكلية الدراسات الدولية المتقدمة في دبي والشارقة، وAIS، وDIS، وLFIGP، وجامعة بلباو في دبي، وجامعة ميدلسكس ومدرسة المواكب في القرهود والبرشاء.

 وأثبت المؤتمر هذا العام أنه تجمع استثنائي للقادة الشباب الذين أظهروا اهتمامًا كبيرًا بالقضايا العالمية والتزامًا ملحوظًا بتعزيز التفاهم والتعاون على المسرح العالمي.
