EVs in UAE: Cut Fuel Costs to AED 45 per 1,000 km

Petrol Savings of up to 84%: NIO’s Analysis Shows EVs Cost Just AED 45 over 1,000 km vs AED 280 for Petrol

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, April 2026: With Super 98 petrol now at AED 3.39 per litre and Special 95 at AED 3.28, in the UAE, the cost gap between conventional and electric vehicles in the UAE has widened to levels that are forcing a rethink across corporate fleets and private ownership alike. An analysis by NIO MENA reveals just how significant the gap has become.

At current pump prices, a standard petrol vehicle averaging 12 km/litre costs approximately AED 275 to AED 280 to cover 1,000 km. An electric vehicle running on home charging covers the same distance for just AED 45, a saving of more than AED 230 per 1,000 km.

Even using rapidly growing public infrastructure, the economics favour EVs. Public AC charging brings the cost to around AED 120 per 1,000 km, while DC fast charging, the most expensive option, still delivers savings of roughly AED 90 per 1,000 km.

NIO Reaches 800,000 Vehicle Production Milestone


Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, July2025: NIO’s 800,000th mass-produced vehicle rolled off the line at NIO Factory One in Hefei. This milestone reflects the remarkable progress of China’s automotive industry in technology and innovation, and underscores NIO’s decade-long dedication to building full-stack capabilities.

The 800,000th vehicle is an ONVO L90. Since the pre-order started in China on July 10, the L90 has received widespread interest and recognition from users and the market. Built upon NIO’s ten years of investment in the charging and swapping infrastructure, as well as continuous technological innovation, the L90 redefines the family-oriented three-row electric SUV by tackling two major user pain points: charging anxiety and space anxiety. The L90 will be officially launched in China on July 31, with deliveries starting August 1.

NIO Inc. Provides April 2025 Delivery Update

  • firefly started deliveries in late April 2025
  • 23,900 vehicles were delivered in April 2025, increasing by 53.0% year-over-year
  • 65,994 vehicles were delivered year-to-date in 2025, increasing by 44.5% year-over-year
  • Cumulative deliveries reached 737,558 as of April 30, 2025 

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, May 2025: NIO, a leader in the premium smart electric vehicle industry, announced its April 2025 global delivery results. The Company delivered 23,900 vehicles in April 2025, representing an increase of 53.0% year-over-year. The deliveries consisted of 19,269 vehicles from the Company’s premium smart electric vehicle brand NIO, 4,400 vehicles from the Company’s family-oriented smart electric vehicle brand ONVO, and initial deliveries of the Company’s small smart high-end electric car brand FIREFLY, which started in late April 2025. Cumulative deliveries reached 737,558 as of April 30, 2025.
