NMSS AND ERTH ZAYED PHILANTHROPIES SIGN AED 25 MILLION GRANT AGREEMENT TO MARK WORLD MS DAY

Abu Dhabi, 30 May 2025 – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has signed a strategic agreement with Erth Zayed Philanthropies to advance its national multiple sclerosis (MS) agenda. As part of this agreement, Erth Zayed Philanthropies will contribute AED 25 million to support NMSS in delivering its core priorities, including advancing UAE’s first National Coalition for MS, a multi-sector platform to improve care, research, and inclusion across the country.

NATIONAL MS SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2025 RESEARCH GRANT AWARDEES

  • Six UAE Research Projects Receive AED 4 Million in Grants to Drive Innovation in MS Care and Treatment

Abu Dhabi, 19 May 2025 – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has awarded AED 4 million in research grants to six UAE-based projects designed to accelerate progress in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), marking a major milestone in its second research grant cycle.

The projects were selected with input from key stakeholders, including the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), highlighting ongoing efforts to build momentum around MS research and advocacy in the UAE. The announcement comes alongside the release of the NMSS 2023–2024 Research Impact Report.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society Teams Up with M42 to Launch MS Helpline in the UAE

  • The “MS Helpline” facilitates access to resources and assists people living with multiple sclerosis to find the most suitable treatment facilities
  • The service is offered daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM in its initial phase
  • The MS Helpline is supported by the Mubadala Foundation and operated by M42

Abu Dhabi, 10 December 2024 — The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has launched the “MS Helpline,” a new service designed to provide information on specialist Multiple Sclerosis (MS) healthcare practitioners across the UAE. The helpline also offers active listening support and facilitates mental health assessments. It also serves as a data collection tool to build the NMSS’s database and enhance existing programs.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society continuing efforts to support people living with MS

Abu Dhabi, 30 May 2024: The UAE has celebrated World Multiple Sclerosis Day for the second consecutive year with a series of initiatives led by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). World MS Day, marked annually on 30 May, is the global movement’s day of action to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and encourage understanding and support for people living with MS.

This year’s World MS Day campaign aims to raise awareness across the UAE and advocate for action-focused collaboration among all stakeholders to better the lives of people with MS, and to mobilise resources to advance research towards finding a cure for MS.

His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, commended the progress made so far to improve the lives of people living with MS, praising the role of doctors, healthcare providers, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, highlighting their ongoing efforts to care for people living with MS.

NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY SEES STRONG PARTICIPATION IN ITS MOVE FOR MS CAMPAIGN

  • The initiative, launched during the holy month of Ramadan, coincides with MS Awareness Month, which is celebrated globally during the month of March
  • Distance covered as part of Move for MS exceeds 84,000 kilometers by more than 2,000 participants

Abu Dhabi, 25 March 2024 – Aligned with global MS Awareness month observed in March every year, the National MS Society (NMSS) launched the “Move for MS” initiative at the start of Ramadan to motivate the community to support people living with MS. Move for MS champions people living with MS through a range of inclusive sports activities. Whether it’s walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, hiking, or any other form of physical engagement, participants of all abilities can join in. The initiative also aims to foster a culture of giving by encouraging donations to support people affected by MS.
