Emirates welcomes 101-year-old centenarian Rachida Smati onboard

Dubai, UAE 1 July 2024: Emirates recently welcomed 101 year old centenarian and seasoned traveller Rachida Smati onboard its flight to Algiers this past weekend.

To show its appreciation to the well-travelled customer and ensure she has the most comfortable travel experience possible, the airline extended a First-Class upgrade for Rachida. She was also greeted by a dedicated team ensuring she was fast-tracked through the airport before heading to the First-Class lounge for a relaxing experience ahead of boarding her flight.

Rachida, an Algerian national, flew to Algiers with Emirates after visiting friends and family in Dubai. Her third visit to the city, Rachida counts it as one of her favourite destinations for its accessibility, high standards of medical care and vibrant attractions. Rachida plans to become a repeat visitor with Emirates as her preferred airline.

Emirates orders 202 additional GE9X engines and services for Boeing 777X fleet

Agreement for world’s most powerful widebody engine builds on previous order for 258 GE9X engines, bringing total to 460 engines

Dubai, UAE; November 13, 2023 – Emirates today announced an order for 202 GE9X engines and spares to power its upcoming fleet of Boeing 777X family of aircraft. The order also includes a long-term services agreement. This brings Emirates’ total order for GE9X engines to 460. The 777X will be the world’s largest and most efficient twin-engine jet, delivering 10% better fuel consumption, emissions, and operating costs than any aircraft in its class.
