HE Dr. Al Dahak:

  • The UAE is confident that COP29 will achieve great success, resulting in a more sustainable future for the global community, future generations, and our planet.
  • COP28 was the most inclusive COP Conference hosted to date and saw the first ‘Global Stocktake’ of the World’s efforts to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.
  • The historic ‘UAE Consensus’ brought together 198 parties to achieve a just, orderly, and equitable energy transition.
  • As part of the shared vision of the COP Presidencies Troika, the UAE is committed to accelerating global energy transformation, enhancing climate financing, and advancing adaptation and resilience in response to climate challenges.
  • The UAE is taking action to triple renewable energy capacity, double energy efficiency by 2030.
  • During the COP29 negotiations, the UAE will focus on achieving the New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) to ensure affordable and accessible climate finance for the Global South.
  • The UAE aims to finalise the activation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to facilitate effective climate action.

The UAE, COP28 and COP29 host joint event at UNGA focusing on the impact of food systems transformation on climate action

USA, NYC, September 28: The United Arab Emirates, COP28, COP29 Azerbaijan, The World Bank, the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) co-hosted an event entitled ‘Advancing Climate Action through Sustainable Agriculture and Resilient Food Systems’ during the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on September 22, 2024.
