Innovation wins AED 5K first prize at Brand Me Summit

March 25,2024: Dubai, UAE: A team of students from Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has created an innovative solution that aims to ease parking trouble for motorists across the city. Developed by second-year students, Ramisha Ahmareen Zaman and Fatma Ahmad Alattar, the Rent-a-Parking platform was awarded the first prize of AED 5,000 at the Entrepreneurship Showcase, staged as part of the recent Brand Me Summit. Held at the university’s City Walk campus, the ground-breaking CUD student-led event showcased the power of personal branding, featuring a line-up of distinguished speakers, entrepreneurs and public figures.

Canadian University Dubai BBA earns accreditation from Chartered Institute of Marketing UK

CIM Accredited Degree statusprovidesaccelerated route to professional qualifications

February 26,2024 , Dubai, UAE: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has received accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK, earning the prestigious CIM Accredited Degree status for its Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing. The recognition will provide students of the BBA in Marketing program with the opportunity to gain industry-recognized qualifications at an accelerated pace. The CIM UK accreditation is also recognized by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI).

Awarded following a comprehensive mapping process, the CIM Accredited Degree status demonstrates that CUD’s BBA in Marketing meets the Institute’s learning outcomes ,ensuring course content is aligned with industry requirements. Mapped against the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing (Level 4) and Diploma in Professional Marketing (Level 6), the BBA in Marketing offers exemptions based on Accredited Prior Learning (APL), reducing the number of assessments students must take to gain a CIM qualification.

Honourable Dr.Andrew Furey discusses the shared vision and values of the university and his home province

February 15,2024, Dubai, UAE:The Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, has met with students, faculty, and staff during a recent campus visit to Canadian University Dubai (CUD). Premier Furey discussed the professional and lifestyle opportunities in Canada’s youngest province and reflected on the shared vision and values of Canada and the UAE in a time of accelerating innovation and green transition.

Canadian University Dubai alumni demonstrate diverse pathways to entrepreneurship

Business graduates share different routes to becoming business founders

February 05,2024, Dubai, UAE: As entrepreneurship becomes an increasingly popular career choice among recent graduates, two alumni from the Canadian University Dubai (CUD) School of Management have shared their different pathways into the business start-up world. Born into an entrepreneurial family, e-business graduate, Mugheera Nadeem, set up his first business in his second year of university, while marketing major, Saad Ramadan, spent several years in the corporate world before his entrepreneurial spirit was ignited when he spotted a gap in the market.

A serial entrepreneur from an early age, Nadeem is now Managing Director of Madocsa Shipping, a logistics company that he established in 2022 to deliver supply chain solutions in some of the world’s most turbulent regions. Discussing his journey, Nadeem said, “I had always dreamed of following my father’s career path to become an entrepreneur and the opportunity arose during my first internship at CUD. I was placed with an organization handling defence logistics and became fascinated by the industry, quickly realizing that’s where my future would lie.”

Canadian University Dubai partners with Harvard Model Congress Middle East to empower future leaders 

 

200 students convene on campus for regional model congress  

Release date, Dubai, UAE: The Canadian University Dubai (CUD) Department of Communication and Media has partnered with Harvard Model Congress Middle East (HMCME) to host a regional youth conference aimed at empowering the leaders of tomorrow. The gathering was convened at CUD for a second time, assembling over 200 high school students to debate and develop practical solutions to some of the biggest current global challenges. 

Across the three-day event, delegates from 23 schools representing 10 countries took on the roles of US Representatives, US Senators, and UN delegates to negotiate complex worldwide issues such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, sustainable food systems, global energy policy, and the international migration crisis. Working in collaboration with Harvard students, the high school pupils debated, negotiated and developed policy, to pass a range of resolutions around issues including the regulation of agriculture, the privacy of data, peaceful humanitarian aid, and the prioritization of gender equality in education. This year, Speakfluence were the winners of best small delegation, while Yongsan International School won best large delegation.
