Undergraduate engineers deliver advancements in robotics and data science

September 29,2025: Dubai, UAE: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) students, Karthika Manoj and Anthony Ibrahim, are demonstrating the power of undergraduate research in driving global innovation. Both emerging talents in the engineering domain, Karthika and Anthony have delivered pioneering projects in the fields of robotics and data science, proving how the next generation is leading in the advancement of technology.

Karthika worked with an existing simulator for the Unitree G1 U-6 humanoid robot

A standout student in the Computer and Networking Engineering program, Karthika has recently completed a three-week research traineeship in Germany with the Department of Automated and Autonomous Systems at the Technical University of Freiberg. During the hands-on project, Karthika worked with an existing simulator for the Unitree G1 U-6 humanoid robot, a platform with a human-like form factor used in scenarios where replicating human anatomy is important to accomplish specific tasks.

Canadian University Dubai to lead three DFF funded projects to advance healthcare innovation

Projects to position UAE at the forefront of technology-driven solutions in the healthcare sector

July 16,2025: Dubai, UAE: Researchers from the Canadian University Dubai (CUD) have been awarded three separate grants from the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Program to advance the application of technologies to improve the health of people in the UAE. CUD faculty will be leading each of the projects, that will develop tools to improve health outcomes and position the UAE at the forefront of technology-driven healthcare solutions.

The projects will contribute to the UAE’s strategic vision to be a world leader in healthcare and wellbeing

The university’s School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology has secured two grants to support projects aimed at advancing technologies that support diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of healthcare. Led by CUD’s Prof. Firuz Kamalov, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi School of Management and the University of Huddersfield, a team of researchers will pioneer an Explainable Artificial Intelligence system to support the early detection of dementia and to develop an understanding of its potential progression. The project has the capacity to deliver a major step forward in transforming dementia care through AI-driven innovation that can deliver earlier diagnosis to improve patient treatment, guide clinical decisions, and offer vital support to families.

May 17th, 2025, Dubai, UAE:  Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has staged its 14th graduation ceremony at Dubai World Trade Centre, celebrating the achievements of the class of 2025 and honoring the national Thank You Sheikha Hind campaign. The convocation was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, who awarded certificates to the 500 graduates.

New program to boost skills capacity in support of UAE Energy Strategy 2050

April 09,2025 : Dubai, UAE: Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has announced the launch of a Bachelor of Science in Power and Renewable Energy Engineering to equip students with the technical expertise and green skills critical to advancing the UAE’s transition to a net-zero future. Aligned with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, the program responds to surging global and regional demand for professionals capable of driving innovation in solar, wind, smart grids, and other renewable technologies.

With an emphasis on hands-on learning, the BSc in Power and Renewable Energy Engineering is based on a market-driven curriculum, covering advanced topics like solar, wind, and fuel cell technology. The program is being launched in response to the UAE’s ambitious goals of tripling renewable energy contributions and investing between AED 150 and 200 billion by 2030, to meet the country’s increasing energy demand.
