Baseball United Signs Historic Partnership to Bring Professional Baseball to Saudi Arabia

Agreement with the Saudi Baseball and Softball Federation will enable Baseball United to host its league within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and includes rights to launch Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam franchises

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA (March 6, 2024) – Baseball United, the first-ever professional baseball league focused on the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, announced today a historic partnership with the Saudi Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF). The agreement gives Baseball United an unlimited term to host its professional league and tournaments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and includes rights to new Baseball United franchises representing Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam – three of the Kingdom’s largest cities. This marks the first time in history that professional baseball will be brought to Saudi Arabia.

DUBAI, UAE (November 16, 2023) Dubai-based Baseball United, the region’s first-ever professional baseball league, announced today that global sports producer Sunset+Vine has been appointed to deliver the television coverage of the Baseball United’s inaugural All-Star Showcase, taking place on November 24^th and 25^th at Dubai International Stadium. The Showcase will include a two-game series between Baseball United’s East All-Stars and West All-Stars, comprising 22 professional players – including former Major League Baseball All-Stars Robinson Cano, Bartolo Colon, and Pablo Sandoval – alongside three prospects from the region.

DUBAI, UAE (October 26, 2023) – Dubai-based Baseball United announced today the official results of the league’s first-ever Player Draft. Eighty players were selected, with twenty picks for each of the league’s founding franchises – the Mumbai Cobras, the Karachi Monarchs, and the league’s two UAE-based franchises, the Wolves and Falcons. The inaugural Draft was dominated by former Major League Baseball (MLB) players, with 91% of the first four rounds and 45% of the overall Draft selections having played at the MLB level.

Cincinnati, OH (September 12, 2023) – Baseball United, the first-ever professional baseball league focused on the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, announced today the official order and structure of its first-ever Draft. The Draft – which will be held Tuesday, September 19^th in Cincinnati, Ohio – will consist of eight rounds, with eight players selected within each round. Each of Baseball United’s founding four franchises will make two selections per round.
