Addleshaw Goddard strengthens Middle East practice with two new Partner appointments

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 1st, 2025: Addleshaw Goddard has announced the promotion of two senior lawyers to Partner in the Middle East, reflecting the firm’s continued investment in its regional growth strategy. The advancements further strengthen the firm’s capabilities in Banking & Finance and Corporate Finance across the UAE and KSA, respectively.

Philip Chalmers, formerly a Managing Associate in the UAE, has been promoted to Partner within the Finance and Restructuring practice. Since relocating from Addleshaw Goddard’s Edinburgh office in 2018, Philip has advised on a wide range of high-profile financings, restructurings and real estate projects across the UAE and wider region. He brings a wealth of expertise that spans both conventional and Islamic finance, with particular strengths in multi-creditor debt restructurings, acquisition finance, funds finance and complex real estate financing. He advises financial institutions, private credit funds, sovereign wealth funds and family offices on acquisitions and investments within the region, as well as across Europe and the UK. Some landmark mandates he has worked on include advising the creditor committees on the in-court restructuring of the KBBO Group and the mandated lead arrangers on TA’s acquisition of a majority stake in Alephya Education.
