Top world chess stars gather in London for the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League

From 3rd to 12th October, London will host the second edition of the world’s biggest official franchise chess league. Featuring world number one Magnus Carlsen and a host of top-world Grandmasters, this will be one of the strongest chess tournaments ever held in the UK.

London, 02 October 2024: In a unique sports event, many of the world’s strongest chess players have gathered in London for the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, the only professional sports league where men and women compete together on mixed-gender teams. Created as a joint venture between Indian tech giant Tech Mahindra and the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the league aims to bring chess to millions of fans worldwide through a fresh, competitive format that is unlike anything seen before in the sport.

DP World ILT20 Development Tournament 2024 to begin on 6 October

Six teams to participate in the second edition of the tournament, squads and schedule available below

DP World ILT20 Season 3 to begin from Saturday, 11 January 2025, final to be played on Sunday, 9 February 2025

Dubai, 2 October 2024: The second edition of the DP World International League T20 Development Tournament will begin at the ICC Academy Oval 1 on Sunday, 6 October. Like last year, six teams will compete in the 18-match tournament that will be played on a single-league basis. The teams were selected via a draft last week – each of the six sides comprises 15 players and includes UAE’s star national players and DP World ILT20 participants.

Eliminator – Cape Town Samp Army Knock Out NYS Lagos

Qualifier 2 – Cape Town Samp Army Qualify for Final, Defeat Harare Bolts by 9 Wickets 

Harare, 28th September, 2024: It was an action packed and exciting day of knockout cricket at the second season of the Zim Afro T10, as the Sikandar Raza led Jo’Bug Bangla Tigers and the Cape Town Samp Army put in clinical performances, to seal their berths in the grand final of the tournament. Both sides were in top form, and dominated their respective games and stormed into the final, which is scheduled for 29 September at the Harare Sports Club.

*Zim Afro T10 Season 2 League Stage Ends, Harare Bolts, Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers, NYS Lagos and Cape Town Samp Army move into the Knockouts*

Match 1 – Cape Town Samp Army Defeated Bulawayo Brave Jaguars 

Match 2 – NYS Lagos won by 53 runs against Durban Wolves 

Match 3 – Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers won by 4 wickets against the Harare Bolts 

Harare, 27th September, 2024: The second season of the Zim Afro T10 is heading for the home stretch with knockout stages around the corner. On the final day of the league stage, there was a lot of entertaining cricket on display with the Cape Town Samp Army, NYS Lagos and the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers putting in clinical performances. Up next, in Qualifier 1, the Harare Bolts will play the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers, and in the Eliminator, the NYS Lagos come up against the Cape Town Samp Army. The winner of the Qualifier 1 will go straight through to the final while the runner-up will play the winners of the Eliminator, for a berth in the summit clash on Sunday.
