Special Olympics UAE signs a memorandum of understanding with Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment

  • The MOU supports Special Olympics UAE Athletes’ preparations for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – January 21, 2024: Today, Special Olympics UAE signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment. The MOU aims to strengthen collaboration through offering Special Olympics UAE athletes and People of Determination with intellectual and developmental disabilities year-round training and opportunities to participate in winter sports competitions in preparation for the upcoming Special Olympics Winter Games, which will be held in Italy in 2025.

In line with the MoU, Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment will host sports sessions and events in partnership with Special Olympics UAE at Ski Dubai, the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort, and Snow Abu Dhabi, Majid Al Futtaim’s indoor snow park in the capital. Ski Dubai’s expert instructors will train UAE Special Olympics athletes in selected winter sports, including cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowboarding.

Dubai, 20th January 2024: The DP World ILT20 is back with a bang as the Dubai Capitals will look to kickstart their campaign in style with a massive clash against the MI Emirates at the Dubai International Stadium on Saturday, January 20. A varied range of players will take the field for the Dubai Capitals in the second season, led by Australian David Warner, who will don the captaincy badge in the upcoming edition of the tournament for the GMR Sports-owned side.

Speaking to media ahead of the tournament star batter Sam Billings, shared his excitement at the prospect of sharing the dressing room with a T20 World Cup winner in Warner.

Dubai, 18 January 2024: After winning the DP World ILT20 trophy in the first season, the Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants have assembled a squad of young talented players, led by experienced stars as they commence their campaign with a blockbuster clash against the Sharjah Warriors at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Led by James Vince, the side also retained Chris Lynn, one of many international players who have excelled in the 2023-24 edition of Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), leaving as the third-highest run-scorer with 304 runs to his name.  The star Australian batter was a part of the pre-tournament press conference, and gave an idea on how his team will approach the second edition of the ILT20 as defending champions.
