 Irfan Pathan, Upul Tharanga among legendary cricketers to join Asian Legends League 

Dubai, 1 February 2024: The World Sports Group on Wednesday announced the launch of the inaugural edition Asian Legends League at a Press Conference at The Lalit Hotel in New Delhi. The exciting T20 tournament will see teams comprising legendary stars from five biggest Asian cricketing nations — India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan — competing in a thrilling tournament, taking place from March 13 to March 21, 2024. According to sources close to the organisers,the tournament is likely to be held in Qatar.

Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club to Host the President Cup on 17th February

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 1 February, 2024

The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (ADEC) hosts the 31st edition of the UAE President Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses in the first category, covering a distance of 2200 meters. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 17th February 2024, as part of the season’s programme.

The championship is held under the patronage and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and President of ADEC.

ILT20 Will Become One of the Toughest Leagues to Play In Soon, Says Mohammad Amir

Dubai, 31st January, 2024: Considered to be among the best bowlers in the DP World ILT20 Season 2, the Desert Vipers’ left arm pacer Mohammad Amir was on fire against the MI Emirates, helping his side register a thrilling win at the Dubai International Stadium.

Amir, who bagged three wickets for 26 runs in his quota of 4 overs, dismissed the dangerous Kusal Perera for 0, and followed it up with the scalps of Tim David and Trent Boult in the last over of the innings, to restrict the MI Emirates to 149.

Speaking after the match, Amir said, “I got three wickets, so that feels good for sure, but most importantly, the team won the game, and this performance is definitely going to help my confidence, and I hope to continue in this form going ahead in the tournament.”

• Emphasising on grooming talent at a young age, Andrew Russell, ILT20 Development Tournament Director said, “This is a great initiative by DP World ILT20 to get young players from schools and academies to come play soft ball cricket as pre-match activity throughout the DP World ILT20 Season 2 and get inspired. This is a fun and engaging activity to create awareness and affinity towards the game. Through this programme, our priority is to further develop grassroot cricket in this region.”

LEGA SERIE A NAMED WORLD’S BEST LEAGUE FOR THE 12TH TIME BY IFFHS

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 30 January 2024: Lega Serie A, Italy’s premier professional football league, has been named the best league in the world for 2023 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). This marks the league’s 12th recognition in this prestigious global ranking since its inception in 1991.

In a closely contested ranking, the English Premier League secured the second spot for the sixth time in seven years, with Spain’s LaLiga maintaining its third-place position for two consecutive years. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Serie A was ranked fourth, surpassing Germany’s Bundesliga and France’s Ligue 1. The Portuguese Primeira Liga was placed seventh, followed by the Dutch Eredivisie and the Belgian First Division A. Completing the top 10 is Argentina’s Liga Profesional.
