SIBF 2023 blends technology and home science as children sew up colourful iPad covers

Stimulating workshop at the ongoing Sharjah International Book Fair
 teaches kids the practical importance of learning how to stitch

Teenagers sat patiently, concentrating on learning a useful life-skill at a sewing workshop held recently at the 42ndedition of Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). Task at hand involved sewing up a cover for their iPads. Pink thread on black, navy on grey, yellow on white, teens excitedly chose vibrantly coloured, contrasting threads to stitch together the two felt cloth pieces lying in front of them with a needle.

مونيكا هالان: الاستثمار يشبه إلى حدّ بعيد البدء بالتدريب على السباحة

الشارقة، 7 نوفمبر 2023

أكّدت مونيكا هالان؛ الكاتبة والمستشارة في إدارة الأموال أنّ بداية الاستثمار تكمن في إدارة الأموال التي يمتلكها الفرد بين يديه، وأن صندوق المال الجيّد هو الذي يسمح للشخص بتبسيط تدفقاته النقديّة، مع ضرورة البدء في تخصيص مبلغ ثابت شهرياً لصندوق الطوارئ، وتحديداً للمبتدئين الذين اتخذوا للتو خطوات صغيرة في حياتهم المهنية.

وخلال الجلسة التي استضافتها ضمن فعاليات معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب 2023، بعنوان “الأموال والاستثمارات الآن”؛ قالت هالان: “الخوض في عالم الاستثمار يشبه إلى حدّ بعيد البدء بالتدريب على السباحة، فنحن لا نسبح فوراً في المناطق العميقة، إنّما نبدأ خطوة خطوة، وما أن نتقن أساسيات التدريب حتى ننتقل إلى المرحلة التالية، والتي تبقى أيضاً بعيدة عن البحر الذي يمتلئ بالصعاب والمخاطر، وحينما نرى أنفسنا أصبحنا محترفين، يُمكن حينها الذهاب إلى البحر. ومع ذلك يبقى عنصر المخاطرة والمغامرة حاضراً في أي وقت”.
