thoughtfully curated workshops at the 16th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival

Few things capture the exuberance of childhood quite like a cookery workshop filled with colour, laughter, and the promise of something delicious. The ongoing Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2025) served up just such an experience in its much-loved Cookery Corner, inviting children as young as five to roll up their sleeves for a session dedicated to making — and tasting — frozen yoghurt bark.

Children stepped into the role of engineers for the day at the LEGO Bridge workshop during the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2025) on Friday. Tasked with building a bridge using LEGO pieces within an intense 20-minute time frame, participants had to meet specific criteria: the bridge could not have any support pillars in the water, and it needed to endure a series of durability tests. Starting with a weight of 1 kg, the bridge had to withstand additional loads of 2 kg and 3 kg in succession.

There’s a mystery brewing at this year’s Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) this year – and it smacks of old books, gunpowder, poison and a lot of Victorian intrigue.

Step into Expo Center Sharjah where the 12-day annual festival is taking place and you’ll be transported to the iconic 221B Baker Street, complete with a recreated living room, Dr. Watson’s study, a crime scene, and even the actual carriage used in the Sherlock Holmes movie.
