Laughter and applause filled the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF)’s Social Media Station as Egyptian content creator Islam Fawzy, one of the Arab world’s most recognisable digital voices, took the stage for his session, “The Art of Smart Choices in Comedy Content Creation”. With more than 5 million followers on Instagram and 1.5 million on YouTube, Fawzy drew a capacity crowd keen to hear how he navigates creativity, humour and authenticity in an era shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).

The session was led by Maxine Toledo, a 21-year-old animator and student at SAE Dubai, who shared the behind-the-scenes journey of her 3D short film King’s Crown – a seven-minute story about a hermit’s chance encounter with a lost child.

At the bustling Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), the whirr of imagination and the hum of innovation were on full display during the “Internal Combustion Engine workshop”, on Wednesday. The popular workshop had two schools queued up for back-to-back sessions, where plastic bottles, balloon power, and bamboo axles came together to form working model cars.
