Sharjah Ruler witnesses signing ofUSD 6 million agreement to digitise UNESCO’s Archives

A historic step towards safeguarding the world’s cultural and educational heritage for future generations

Paris, May 21, 2025

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed the signing of an agreement at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in Paris to digitise UNESCO’s global archive in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and HE Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO. The USD 6 million project is funded by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA).

The signing ceremony at UNESCO’s headquarters, featured Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the SBA, signing the agreement alongside Jennifer Linkins, Assistant Director-General for Administration and Management at UNESCO. The agreement will preserve human heritage, protect international records, and ensure permanent digital access to these invaluable resources, aligning with the directives of the Sharjah Ruler. The five-year project will digitise books, manuscripts, audio recordings, documentary films, and other materials.

This significant event for the MENA games industry – hosted as part of the Dubai Esports and Games Festival (DEF), organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) – convened over 1,400 industry professionals from 70 countries across MENA, Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Australasia, with a footfall of over 1,700 attendees across the two days.

The summit fostered a dynamic atmosphere for collaboration, innovation, and investment, both regionally and internationally, with attendees comprising 32% C-Level executives or founders, 68% senior managers, and 50% game makers.

الجمعية الوطنية للتصلب المتعدد تعلن عن أسماء الفائزين في دورة المنح البحثية لعام 2025

  • ستة مشاريع بحثية في دولة الإمارات تحصل على منح بقيمة 4 ملايين درهم لدفع الابتكار في رعاية وعلاج التصلب المتعدد

أبوظبي، 19  مايو 2025: منحت الجمعية الوطنية للتصلب المتعدد 4 ملايين درهم إماراتي في شكل منح بحثية لستة مشاريع بحثية يتم العمل عليها في دولة الإمارات، وتهدف إلى تسريع التقدم في فهم وتشخيص وعلاج التصلب المتعدد، وذلك في إنجاز بارز ضمن دورتها الثانية لبرنامج المنحة البحثية.

وقد تم اختيار المشاريع الفائزة بالتعاون مع شركاء الجمعية، ودائرة الصحة – أبوظبي. ويأتي هذا الإعلان عقب إصدار تقرير الأثر البحثي للجمعية لعام 2023–2024، مما يعكس الزخم المتزايد في جهود البحث والمناصرة المتعلقة بالتصلب المتعدد في دولة الإمارات.

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن تمويل المشاريع البحثية قد تضاعف هذا العام، مقارنةً بالدورة الافتتاحية، في دلالة واضحة على التزام الجمعية الوطنية للتصلب المتعدد المتزايد بدعم جهود البحث العلمي في مجال التصلب المتعدد. واستقطبَت دورة المنح لهذا العام 46 طلبًا، من بينها طلبات تم إعدادها بالتعاون مع 15 شريكًا إقليميًا ودوليًا، ما يُمثل زيادة تقارب أربعة أضعاف مقارنةً بالدورة الأولى، ويُجسّد الدور الريادي المتنامي لدولة الإمارات في مجال أبحاث التصلب المتعدد.

NATIONAL MS SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2025 RESEARCH GRANT AWARDEES

  • Six UAE Research Projects Receive AED 4 Million in Grants to Drive Innovation in MS Care and Treatment

Abu Dhabi, 19 May 2025 – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has awarded AED 4 million in research grants to six UAE-based projects designed to accelerate progress in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), marking a major milestone in its second research grant cycle.

The projects were selected with input from key stakeholders, including the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), highlighting ongoing efforts to build momentum around MS research and advocacy in the UAE. The announcement comes alongside the release of the NMSS 2023–2024 Research Impact Report.
