November 6, 2023: Gulf Medical University (GMU) recently concluded its 17th edition of the Biggest Annual Medical, Art, and Science Exhibition (MASE), a highly anticipated competition for high school students. This event saw remarkable participation from over 108 schools, showcasing the impressive talents of young minds in six distinct categories. These categories included a diverse range of creative and intellectual ideas, including projects, posters, paintings, music compositions, poetry, and innovative business ideas.
Inaugural ZainTECH Data Challenge hosted at RITDubai Innovation Center

ZainTECH, the integrated digital solutions provider of Zain Group, has launched the inaugural ZainTECH Data Challenge on 28 October, in collaboration with Rochester Institute of Technology(RIT) Dubai. The event follows the strategic partnership signed by the two entities earlier this month at GITEX Global 2023, aimed at advancing research and development, and fostering key business collaborations aligned with the UAE’s national agenda and talent development.

The ZainTECH Data Challenge was held at RIT Dubai’s Innovation Center, during which RIT students worked with ZainTECH’s Dataexperts to gain practical experience. The Challenge also encouraged students to think critically and creatively to address real-world data problems; learning how to formulate hypotheses, design experiments, and evaluate model performance – a crucial skill for data-driven decision-making.
Collaboration is essential in data science and as such, students were grantedthe opportunity to work in teams during the event, sharing knowledge, ideas, and expertise to tackle complex challenges collaboratively.Team Velox, comprised of students Patricia Denise Azarraga Ignacio, Nart Madi, and Zoya Hyat Shaikh, secured first place in the competition, followed by team Cinnabonwith members Muhammed Yusuf, Omar Mohammed Nayyar, and Dawood Ahmed Jukaku in second place, and Team X, including students Daniil Mikhailov, Alisher Beisembekov, and TairlanKairolla, in third place. The winning teams not only celebrated their achievements but also received substantial rewards, including scholarships and coveted paid internships at ZainTECH. These prizes serve to propel their learning and pave the way for promising career trajectories.
AUS Board of Trustees approves new programs and research centers, sets Emiratization as institutional priority

The American University of Sharjah (AUS) Board of Trustees has approved the launch of a new graduate program and the establishment of three research centers within the university to bolster its research agenda. It has also set out new strategies to elevate Emiratization as an institutional priority.
Headed by Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, the fall board meeting was held on campus. This was also the first board meeting attended by Dr. Tod A. Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, who assumed his duties this October.
