AUS partners with Nama to establish “HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Chair in Women’s Leadership”

Sharjah, 06 August 2024

American University of Sharjah (AUS) announced its partnership with NAMA Women Advancement Establishment (NAMA) to launch “Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Chair in Women’s Leadership.” Funded by Nama, the AED 15 million grant is the first-ever endowed chair focused on women’s leadership and development in the United Arab Emirates.

The multidisciplinary chair is named in honor of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of NAMA, recognizing her significant efforts and contributions to the advancement of women’s education.

Pearson Appoints Dave Treat as Chief Technology Officer

AURAK launches Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence Center, as AI set to become a dominant job creator

A World Economic Forum survey reveals that half of the companies surveyed were keen to adopt AI to create jobs

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, August 1, 2024: The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has launchedthe Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence Center(ATAIC), an innovative Information and Communications Technology (ICT) research center operating under the School of Engineering and Computing.  The launch of this center occurs against the backdrop of AI becomingthe dominant job creator globally.

This is a significant development when viewed against the findings of the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs survey (2023) which revealed that nearly half (49%) of the companies surveyed were keen to adopt AI to create jobs, in contrast to the 23% of respondents who expect it to displace jobs.

RLtools: Technology Innovation Institute and New York University Debut Novel Reinforcement Learning Library

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 29 July 2024 – The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a leading global scientific research center and the applied research pillar of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), today announced that its Autonomous Robotics Research Center (ARRC) has released RLtools, an open-source, groundbreaking reinforcement learning library that addresses critical training challenges in autonomous systems. Developed in collaboration with New York University’s Agile Robotics and Perception Lab, as part of a joint project, ‘Learning to Fly in Seconds’, this achievement marks the first instance of training high-speed, end-to-end drone controllers on a standard commercial grade computer.
