Omantel attracts cutting-edge AI and metaverse technologies in collaboration with Shaffra Technology

13 February 2025: Omantel has entered a strategic partnership with Singapore-based Shaffra Technology Labs to develop groundbreaking solutions leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse technologies. These solutions will be hosted within Omantel cloud services and provided to government institutions and private sector companies in the Sultanate of Oman to enhance operational efficiency. The agreement was signed during the LEAP 2025 Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Eng. Aladdin Bait Fadhel, Chief Commercial Officer of Omantel, stated: “At Omantel, our vision is to solidify our leadership role as a key enabler of Oman’s digital transformation and to be the premier provider of innovative technology solutions in the region. Our collaboration with Shaffra will significantly contribute to developing cutting-edge technology solutions, particularly in artificial intelligence, for our customers”.

Nearly Half of Business Users Targeted by Email Attacks in H2 2024, Acronis Report

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – February 13, 2025 – Acronis, a global leader in cybersecurity and data protection, released its biannual report titled, “Acronis Cyberthreats Report, H2 2024: The rise of AI-driven threats”. This edition reveals a significant rise in email cyberattacks; a staggering 197% increase detected in H2 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, with a 21% rise in attacks per organization. From July to December 2024, nearly 50% of users were targeted by email-based attacks at least once, and nearly a third (31.4%) of all emails received in H2 2024 were spam, with 1.4% containing malware or phishing links.
