‘Ride for Unity’ Returns to Reconnect Communities in the Middle East

Business Leaders, extreme adventure athletes, Paralympians and trailblazers return to the UAE on Ride For Unity’s 2025 Whistle-Stop Tour: Road to Resilience, to spread the message of unity, reconciliation, community and tolerance.

15 January 2025 – Dubai, UAE – After the enormous success of Ride For Unity’s 7 Days / 7 Emirates Tour through the UAE last January, the organization has returned for a two-day tour on January 16-17, 2025. Ride for Unity (RFU) has gathered 15 riders comprised of world-record breaking athletes, extreme adventurists and business leaders to cycle up Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE at 1,934m, visit the WellSpring Private School and hold a free public event, ‘Humanity in Leadership: The Future of Connection, Sustainability and Resilience’ at the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in Dubai on January 17th at 5pm.

Gulf Giants break the ice with commanding six-wicket victory over Dubai Capitals 

  • Erasmus, Hetmyer shine as Gulf Giants chase down 166 with ease 
  • “We were raring to get our first win, having lost the first few. When you know you have quality around you, you know you have a bit more time. I think teams can often get tense when you’re not getting your first win, but we came together and created positive energy and that went a long way in helping us express ourselves out there. Avishka Fernando’s record-breaking fifty powers Sharjah Warriorz to victory over Dubai Capitals

Dubai, January 17, 2025: Avishka Fernando electrified the Sharjah Cricket Stadium with a blistering innings, leading the Warriorz to a record-breaking chase in DP World ILT20 history. Chasing 202 against the Dubai Capitals, Fernando smashed an extraordinary 81 runs off just 27 balls, reaching his half-century in a record-breaking 16 balls—the fastest in the tournament’s history.

EGA celebrates launch of MBZ-SAT, built with EGA’s CelestiAL solar aluminium

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 17 January 2025: Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, celebrated the landmark launch of MBZ-SAT, the most advanced satellite in the region and developed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), was built using EGA’s CelestiAL solar aluminium.

EGA supplied MBRSC with CelestiAL solar aluminium produced in Jebel Ali. The metal was formed into critical parts for MBZ-SAT by a local EGA partner company.
