SuperBridge Summit 2024 to convene ‘Next Gen’ global leaders for economic innovation  

UAE, 25 JUNE 2024: The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the SuperBridge Council have announced that the highly anticipated second edition of the SuperBridge Summit 2024 will be held on 15-16 October 2024, at the One&Only One Za’abeel, Dubai. The two-day summit will coincide with GITEX Global, bringing together future leaders of the global economy in one venue.

The theme of this year’s summit – ‘Innovate for Next Gen’, will explore diverse elements shaping the future of global economy, across five key topics: ‘Economic Powerhouse’, ‘Technology and Industrial Transformation’, ‘Leadership and Human Equity’, ‘Life and Wellbeing’, and ‘Wealth and Investment’. The term ‘innovate’ in the theme embodies a proactive approach to seeking solutions for the world’s most urgent challenges, while ‘Next Gen’ underscores the multi-dimensional facets of global economic forces, technology, leadership, wellbeing and investment.

Female Engineer From Heriot-Watt University Dubai Develops Revolutionary Smart Baby Wristband

24 June 2024, Dubai, United Arab Emirates: When an electronics engineer from Heriot-Watt University spent three nights caring for her unwell son, she was struck by an idea that could soon revolutionise healthcare for babies in the home.

Dr Rula Sharqi, a lecturer at the University’s Dubai campus, has co-developed what is believed to be the world’s first ‘smart baby wristband’ capable of round-the-clock monitoring of a child’s vital signs with the ability to send text alerts and, in extreme cases, raise the alarm with emergency services. 

She has spent the last 12 months working on the LittleGard project alongside fourth-year robotics engineering student, Nakhul Kalaivanan, who joined as part of his final year coursework.

CEOs are increasingly looking to disrupt their own ways of working, rewriting their organizational playbooks and accelerating the pace of change

DUBAI, UAE, JUNE 25th, 2024 – A new study by the IBM Institute for Business Value has found that CEOs believe remaining competitive in the age of AI demands taking significant risk.

68% of Middle East CEOs surveyed agreed that the potential productivity gains from automation are so great they must accept significant risk to stay competitive. Meanwhile, 46% of respondents are determined to take more risk than the competition to maintain their competitive edge.
