National Committee of Biosecurity Holds Second Meeting for 2024 and Discussed Epidemic Preparedness Map Project and National Biosecurity Framework

[Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 5 May 2024]: The National Committee of Biosecurity held its second meeting for 2024 covering a wide range of critical topics to enhance the biosecurity in the United Arab Emirates. The committee placed particular emphasis on the need to strengthen mosquito control efforts, particularly following the extraordinary climatic event that resulted in record-breaking rainfall in the country. The committee also discussed Epidemic Preparedness Map Project and National Biosecurity Framework.

Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, has been named an ambassador by the Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA) in support of the efforts of Sharjah and the UAE to inscribe Faya Palaeolandscape, located in the central region of the Sharjah, to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List.

The cookery workshops at the ongoing 15th annual Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) are a hit among children of all ages and nationalities. “Every session has attracted at least a dozen enthusiastic young chefs,” remarked Lamia Salam, the culinary instructor, while guiding the children in crafting Oreo parfaits during a Saturday morning class.
