Dubai, May 13th – The International Digital Economies Association (iDEA) and the Global Fintech Alliance convened at the Dubai Fintech Summit from May 6 to 7, 2024, hosted at the prestigious Madinat Jumeirah. Organized by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), this seminal event marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of financial technology, bringing together luminaries, policymakers, and influencers to chart the course of FinTech and finance on a global scale.

The summit served as a platform for groundbreaking initiatives, underscored by the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with prominent organizations. Notable among these agreements are collaborations with the MENA Fintech Association represented by Nameer Khan, the Bahrain Fintech Association led by Suzy Al Zeerah, the Azerbaijan Fintech Association represented by Azer Akbarov, and Trescon, signifying a commitment to driving innovation and fostering collaboration across borders.

In a keynote address, Amor Maclang, co-founder and trustee of iDEA, emphasized the significance of collective action in shaping the future of digital economies. “Our participation in the Dubai Fintech Summit presented an opportunity for leaders of digital economies to collaborate and forge new pathways towards a collective approach in enabling a better future. Where one goes, we all go,” remarked Maclang.

Central to iDEA’s mission is the empowerment of digital economy leaders across continents. With a focus on fostering impactful initiatives in Fintech, ESG and Green Finance, Smart Cities and PropTech, E-Sports, and HalalTech, iDEA aims to harness the potential of interconnected economies to drive sustainable growth and innovation.

The summit also spotlighted the rise of the ‘Global Majority,’ an interconnected ecosystem of economies representing a significant share of global GDP. With over 6.8 billion individuals, this economic powerhouse presents immense opportunities for growth and collaboration, with fintech playing a pivotal role in its emergence.

iDEA’s participation in the Dubai Fintech Summit marks a milestone in its global roadshow, spanning Japan, Hong Kong, India, Brazil, Kenya, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, with a culminating event slated for November in Manila, Philippines.
