Hudayriyat Island to host HERO Abu Dhabi mountain bike race for the first time

Abu Dhabi, UAE; 28 January 2024: Hudayriyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s premier leisure and sports hub developed by Modon, will host the inaugural edition of HERO Abu Dhabi. The world’s toughest and most spectacular mountain bike marathon is coming from the Italian Dolomites to the UAE capital from February 9 to 11, 2024.

The hosting of the prestigious global sports event, organized by Modon in cooperation with HERO Südtirol Dolomites, strengthens Abu Dhabi’s credentials as a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Bike City.

Sharjah, 28 January, 2024: The Dubai Capitals faced defeat against the Gulf Giants during their last DP World ILT20 match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. However, Dutch veteran Roelof van der Merwe picked up three wickets on the night while his team tried to defend 132/7.

Sharing his thoughts about the game, Roelof said that his team were a few runs short, “The two Gulf Giants openers gave their team an unbelievable start in the powerplay, which put us on the back foot. We might have been a few runs short, especially when our opponents had such a good powerplay with the bat. In such situations, it’s very hard to come back, but we did our best with the ball and took the game to the very end.”
