A FIRST STATEMENT TO LINEAR INFINITY BY ANA CARRERAS OF DIXTEN STUDIO
Dubai, UAE – A statement to the designs dreamed at Dixten Studio by Ana Carreras will be showcased at the 10th edition of Downtown Design, the Middle East’s leading fair for contemporary and quality design.

Dixten is the combination of “ten” in French and “ten” in English. A studio based on a sequence, designing for a purpose under a nomenclature of 10. Ten is a whole number, and the heart in which Dixten operates wholly around. Annually Dixten Studio only takes on ten interior projects and at Downtown Design there will only be ten pieces in the collection and exclusive pieces are only made ten times!
“We create collections of 10 pieces, where we connect our architectural and design projects with the base of the decimal numeral system; by far the most common system of denoting numbers in both spoken and written language can now be seen in art.” says Ana.
The pieces of this year’s preliminary collection are pieces that define the linear infinite. Every piece leads with a linear structure. With this year’s collection, Ana has gone away from her signature curves and organic silhouettes to showcase a linear infinity. An infinite soul, an infinite scope of work, of dreaming, and of inspiration from her family.
At Dixten Studio the abstract manifesto is the unknown as a line is infinite without a beginning or an end. The conjunction and grouping of lines, create the abstract form. Ana also draws inspiration from her personal life, creating pieces that personify the character of her loved ones be it the strength, complexity, or organic positive vibes. “At Dixten Studio, we don’t just design to design, we design with meaning. We connect design and architecture under the umbrella of art, mixing its creations and combining its benefits,” says Ana ahead of this year’s exhibition.
THE INSPIRATION BEHIND SOME OF THE PIECES: Like a juxtaposition of the soul, that breathes the design, attaching value to a person, place or moment and giving it life.
Sequia Table – Designed for the UAE, a country that has opened its doors to so many talented individuals and thrives with hope and opportunity. The word Sequia in Spanish means dryness, like the desert, one of UAE’s set landscapes and a paradise of its own. This table represents the segmented chunks of the region and the world. The rectilinear patterns of nature are infinite juxtapositions of lines that resemble the desert landscape.
Matilde Dinning Table – Named after Ana’s grandmother, Matilde Díaz, as it was born to life on the same day as the grandmother. The table is like a gravity pull, the eight linear structures work as a team to support a big plateau of 2 cm thick marble.
Franciso Floor Lamp – Inspired by Ana’s father, who has been her example to follow through life. His figure is personified through the tall thin stem with a huge heart as the lampshade, purposely too big to represent his passion and service to his family and the world.
Encarna Shelves – in memory of her father’s mother, Ana’s grandmother. Elegant, beautiful, intelligent and a figure of admiration. The most complex piece in the collection, as Encarna was multifaceted with value and great admiration. Designed to reflect all her different sides and elements. The outer shape taking inspiration from her cauliflower hairdo.
The soul behind Ana’s designs is to dream and give honor to those and places who have honored her. In a utopian manifesto, we all want to exist, touch and feel. Ana has designed products with Artemide, with Moroso, FBMI, amongst others and has collaborated with Mirage and Lever on exhibitions and furniture for several years. Swing by to speak to the designer herself at this year’s Downtown Design Week for the full range of products.
