الفيتامينات هى مركبات يحتاجها جسم الإنسان بكميات محددة للقيام بالعديد من الوظائف الحيوية بالجسم. ومعظمها لايتم تصنيعه في جسم الإنسان ويجب الحصول عليها عن طريق الغذاء باستثناء فيتامين د الذى يتم تصنيعه بالجسم من خلال تعرضه لأشعة الشمس .

ويحتاج جسم الإنسان لكميات  مختلفة من الفيتامينات والمعادن والتى تختلف بحسب العمر .الجنس  الوضع الفسيولوجى كالحمل والرضاعة مثلا والحالة الصحية..

درجات الحرارة المرتفعة يمكن أن تؤثر على التنظيم الحراري لجسمنا, مما يؤدي إلى تقلصات عضلية ناجمة عن الحرارة قد تصيب أجسامنا والتي تسبب الإنهاك الحراري, وضربة الشمس. ويشعر الانسان في الإنهاك الحراري بالتعب والدوخة والتعرق الزائد ويمكن أن يسبب ذلك الغثيان والقيء, ويمكن أن ترتفع الحرارة ولكن في العادة لا تزيد عن 40 درجة.

في ضربة الشمس تكون الأعراض أقوى كأعراض عصبية مثل الارتباك, كما لا تسبب ضربة الشمس بالعادة التعرق الزائد لكبار السن وقد ترتفع الحرارة إلى فوق ال40 درجة مما قد يؤدي إلى الغياب عن الوعي تماما وتظهر أعراض كالتشنجات.
