wagamama embraces Environment Month starting from June, inspiring waste reduction efforts and rewarding supporters with 1000 AED worth of meals for aiding their mission to reduce food waste.

United Arab Emirates: Can you earn rewards for being a more responsible and conscious citizen in the UAE? Absolutely. wagamama, the beloved pan-Asian restaurant chain, is launching its Wasteless with wagamama campaign, an ambitious initiative to reduce food waste and minimize environmental impact. Beginning June, wagamama is inviting everyone to join the pledge to waste less, with a chance to win 1000 AED worth of meals at any wagamama location.
Food waste is a significant issue in the UAE, with the country generating nearly 1,000,000 tons of food waste annually. This accounts for approximately 38% of the total waste produced, a startling figure given the global food security challenges we face. The UAE government has made food waste reduction a key component of its National Food Security Strategy 2051, aiming to position the country as a global leader in sustainable food practices.
Inspired by the UAE’s vision and commitment to sustainability, wagamama’s Wasteless campaign is designed to tackle food waste head-on. By launching Wasteless with wagamama, the restaurant chain aims to inspire mindful consumption and reduce food waste across the community. Here’s how wagamama plans to achieve this:
- Reclaim & Refill Containers:Â Embrace sustainability with wagamama’s specially designed collection of tupperwares, available for purchase in-store for just 12 AED. These reusable containers encourage customers to take their leftovers home, reducing food waste and fostering environmentally friendly habits. Additionally, customers will receive an additional 10% off their bill every time they dine-in and takeaway food using their wagamama Tupperware.
- Waste-less Competition:Â Purchase a wagamama Tupperware and get automatically entered into the Waste-less Competition. To be eligible, you must use your Tupperware at least five times between June and July. The more you participate, the higher your chances to win 1000 AED worth of meals. This initiative not only rewards your commitment to sustainability but also highlights the importance of reducing food waste in our daily lives. The winner will be announced on 31 July 2024.
By launching Wasteless with wagamama, the restaurant chain aims to foster a greater appreciation for food and the resources needed to produce it. This campaign is a testament to wagamama’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community support, reinforcing the importance of mindful consumption and waste reduction.
Ankitha Rajendaran, Marketing Director, says, “At wagamama, we embrace the principle of kaizen, focusing on continuous improvement in every aspect of our business. We are dedicated to creating a culture of non-waste. The Wasteless with wagamama campaign embodies our commitment to sustainability, community involvement, and the relentless pursuit of positive change.”
Join wagamama in their mission to waste less and win big. Together, we can make a significant impact on our environment and community.

About wagamama
‘Kaizen’, meaning ‘good change’ is the philosophy that sits right at our heart. It shapes every dish we create, and pushes us to find better ways in all that we do. We’ve been practicing kaizen since 1992, when we opened our first doors in London’s bloomsbury. Inspired by fast-paced, japanese ramen bars and a celebration of asian food, wagamama burst into life. We set out to create a unique way of eating, bringing the fresh, nourishing, flavors of Asia to all that was 25 years ago now.
