AUS’ College of Engineering launches industry partnership program

The College of Engineering (CEN) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) has launched the AUS Engineering Al Nukhba Program, designed to strengthen the college’s industrial outreach and enrich the learning experience of students.

Through the program, CEN will establish a framework of cooperation through memoranda of agreements. These will focus on areas of mutual interest such as research, development, training programs, internships, exchange of information and personnel, joint supervision of students’ capstone projects and  field trip visits. This mutually beneficial program will enable students to gain valuable experience, while industry partners will benefit from the skills of dedicated and talented AUS students.

As part of their graduation requirements, CEN students must complete an internship lasting a minimum of 16 weeks. The Al Nukhba Program is part of the college’s commitment to helping its students make the most of their internship opportunities, equipping them with the requisite knowledge and skills and connecting them to corporate and industrial entities that match their majors.

“Al Nukhba means “elite” in English. Through this program, CEN students will have the opportunity to gain valuable industry knowledge, allowing them to best prepare themselves for future careers. Companies will also get to work with the best engineering students,” said Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of CEN.

He added: “With our student-focused approach, we are confident that this new initiative will provide students with the best possible hands-on industrial experience and enhance their career opportunities. We welcome industry partners to join us in the AUS Engineering Al Nukhba Program, and look forward to the successes to come and the future possibilities that this program will unlock for our future leaders.”

As one of the Middle East’s top-ranked engineering colleges, CEN empowers the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, independent thinkers, global citizens, entrepreneurs and leaders that will impact the future of the world. The college provides a life-changing experience to students inside and outside the classroom, helping them to excel as engineers and computer scientists. The faculty engage in cutting-edge research that inspires students during their educational experience at AUS. To learn more about AUS College of Engineering, please visit www.aus.edu/cen.
