EEG reaches the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah on the 5th leg of the Clean UAE campaign 800 participants collect 1655 kg of waste

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment and in association with the Ministry of Community Development, Emirates Environmental Group’s 21st cycle of the “Clean UAE” campaign reached the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah – Al Mazra’a Area – one of the touristic sites of Ras Al Khaimah. The driveentered its 2nd week in the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah with the strategic partnership and support of the Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah having completed its activities in the Emirates of Ajman, Sharjah, Fujairah and Dubai during the past week.

More than 800 participants coming from all walks of life cleaned the area of Mazra’a, a 3 km2 stretch of land and collected 1,655 kg of mixed waste including recyclable material that were further segregated and sent to the local recycling factories for proper recycling.

Mrs. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-founder and Chairperson of EEG quoted “The Clean UAE Campaign is the biggest social transformation programme of EEG.  The campaign proves that we, the people of UAE have a strong sense of belonging, responsibility and patriotism for our beloved country. We realise that it is our duty to maintain and ensure its well-being and prosperity.”

She added “EEG’s annual Clean UAE drive is designed to harness the energy of the community and reinforce environmental credentials to raise the bar for climate action. The fundamental message behind this campaign is to educate the all sectors of the society about the importance of conserving and protecting the environment in order to build responsible future generations to ensure that the environmental legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is in good hands”

H.E. Eng. Khaled Al-Ali the Director General, Public Services Department said “We are pleased to witness the expansion of this campaign to cover all corners of the country with this high level of interest amongst students, families and companies. Our participation is a reflection of the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of UAE and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, may Allah protect him to achieve sustainable development.

The Department of Public Services in Ras Al Khaimah and under the directives of the Head of the Department, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, to preserve the environment through organising and participating in awareness campaigns that aim to spread awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and the need to dispose of waste properly and preserve public facilities. We seek to protect this good land and make it clean and free of any pollutants that may harm the environment and its natural resources that Allah has bestowed upon us for the continuity, and sustainability of human life, so that our Emirate remains beautiful and green and progresses towards a sustainable Ras Al Khaimah.”

While concluding her speech, Mrs. Al Mar’ashi thanked the supporters of the campaign – Public Services Department – Government of Ras Al Khaimah for their commitment and contribution to make the Clean UAE in RAK a huge success.
