MUFG Research: GCC economies to bounce back in 2022

• GDP to grow at 6.1% in 2022; GCC Surplus to reach USD 27 billion
• GCC to record this year first fiscal surplus since 2014, at USD 27 billion

2 February 2022, Dubai, UAE – MUFG Research released today suggests that GDP growth in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will see a surge of 6.1% in 2022, on the back of higher oil prices, increased oil production, and robust momentum in non-oil activity. This will be the fastest pace of cyclical expansion since 2011 and is higher than other Emerging Markets peers.
