RAK Hospital COVID Rehab Program reaches over 9,500 people worldwide
Hospital also bags the ‘Patient Lifestyle Education Award 2021’ for improving the health outcomes of long-COVID patients
August 25, 2021; Ras Al Khaimah, UAE:RAK Hospital’s ‘Online COVID-19 Rehabilitation Program’ launched in March this year in association with ARISE UAE has reached out to over 9,500 people worldwide, helping long COVID patients resume normal lives. Additionally, the educational webinars conducted every fortnight, as part of the initiative, has also had attendees join from across the globe.
Starting March 2021, till date, 11 virtual events have been organized covering varied subjects concerning post-COVID concerns and complications. Moreover, the hospital was also recognized by the Indo-Asian Leadership forum for its outstanding contributions in this field of patient education;therefore bagging the ‘Patient Lifestyle Education Award 2021’. The Award was presented during the Indo-Asia Global Health Tourism Conclave & Expo where the jury selected the institution among hundreds of nominees from Middle East and South Asia.
All the patient education webinars organized by the hospital have been a great success as hundreds of participants get benefited through the interactive sessions. All the topics are carefully selected by the team of experts and address key issues faced by COVID long-haulers based on local and international research studies. For instance, the data gathered from hospital’s rehab program has observed that chronic fatigue at 47.5% remains the top-most debilitating symptom.
Commenting on the international appeal of the sessions, Prof. Adrian Kennedy, Chief Wellness Officer, Arabian Wellness & Lifestyle Management, the lifestyle division of RAK Hospital said,
“Our sessions have focused on catering to the needs of the post COVID- patients, their symptoms and issues and have delved deep into a variety of topics tackling psychological, neurological, respiratory dysfunction, fatigue, digestive disorders, diabetes, hypertension, musculoskeletal disorders amongst other issues.
While 52% of the attendees in our sessions attend from the Middle Eastern region, another 25% participated from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. A small percentage also joined from North America whereas 6% from New Zealand and Philippines, 4% from the European continent and 3% from Africa.”
