Motorola celebrates its success in 5G, 48 years after making the world’s first portable cellular call

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 04 April 2021 –At Motorola, April 3rd represented a particularly significant milestone for the company. In 2019, this was the first day the moto z3 combined with the 5G moto mod™ became the world’s first commercially available smartphone to connect to 5G network.

On the same day in 1973, Motorola publicly demonstrated the world’s first portable cellular telephone and system, using a prototype of the Motorola DynaTAC8000X. From the first phone call, to connecting consumers across the globe to the fastest 5G speeds[1], Motorola has been there every step of the way.

Over the past two years, the company has continued to advance its 5G innovation agenda by introducing a number ofmmWave and sub-6 5G capable devices around the world.
