Finally, Ananda Shakespeare, founder of Dubai Vegan Days, will present a brief talk on how to maximise PR and marketing for your vegan enterprise in a world still dominated by eating animals and cruelty.
Dubai Vegan Days’ Ananda Shakespeare says: “Dubai Vegan Days brings people together in a social setting to learn about veganism and is delighted to be associated with the Vegan Entrepreneurs UAE network.”
Dubai Vegan Days is a fun, friendly food-based concept launched in 2018, offering everyone a chance to try good food, meet open- and like-minded people and perhaps learn more about what it means to be a vegan.

Did you know?
- Vegans do not suffer from a lack of protein. There is more protein in broccoli than beef. Lentils, spinach and almonds are also protein-packed and contain other great nutrients too. You simply do not need to consume meat to get protein. Other vitamins and minerals that are widely and easily available to vegans include Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C.
- Going one year without paper saves 8.5 trees. Going one year without beef saves 3,432 trees.
- The list of famous and influential vegans is enormous, including: Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Alicia Silverstone, Ellen Degeneres, Joaquin Phoenix, Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck.
- If everyone became vegan, billions of dollars could be saved in worldwide healthcare annually.
The term ‘vegan’ was coined in the UK in 1944. A man named Donald Watson invented the term vegan when he co-founded the Vegan Society, based on the fact that ‘Ve gan’ is the beginning and end of vegetarian, literally and figuratively. At first, he used it to mean “non-dairy vegetarian”, but from 1951 the Society defined it as “the doctrine that [people] should live without exploiting animals”.
[About the organisers]
Vegan Entrepreneurs UAE
Following the launch of ‘Not Just For Vegans’ in December 2020, Carly Dubery recognised there was an opportunity to bring like minded business owners together. In January 2021 ‘Vegan Entrepreneurs UAE’ was launched as a supportive platform with arranged network events. The group is an inclusive and safe environment to open up conversation on all things vegan. This community also allows an opportunity for businesses to collaborate and grow.
Not Just For Vegans
In 2020 Carly Dubery seized an opportunity to make one of her dreams a reality. This was to own a business which would align with her everyday values and she launched ‘Not Just For Vegans’.
‘Not just for vegans’ is an online, eco-friendly boutique offering beautifully made artisan products as well as some everyday essential items.
The company is passionate about providing sustainable, cruelty-free, vegan options to everyone. With so many alternative materials now available, one way we can all contribute towards a more sustainable future is by selecting more environmentally friendly products.
About Dubai Vegan Days
Dubai Vegan Days was launched and conceived by Ananda Shakespeare, as a way of helping people enjoy and learn more about veganism, ethical living and how to live with more compassion. Each event brings people together to enjoy good food, good company and good products, and hopefully encourage fun, learning and friendship. We encourage dialogue and information-sharing around veganism, but are not preaching hippies.
Keep up with our events by following us on social media.
