Dubai-UAE: 04 March, 2021 – Dubai Design District (d3) has been transformed into an open-air exhibition with pop-up displays for the first-ever d3 Fashion Showcase, a new event designed to shine a spotlight on the local and international haute couture industry in the region’s largest creative district.

Some of its most famous fashion designers are showcasing new collections in pop-up capsules erected across d3’s outdoor alleyways, providing a free glimpse into some of the hottest trends and statement pieces created by Dubai-based designers, in a fully safe and sanitised environment.

The event, which will run until May 2021, aims to encourage people to familiarise themselves with some of the emirate’s best designers. Each display unit has unique QR codes that can be scanned for more information about the designer, such as their contact details, social media channels, and location. This allows anyone in d3 to visit the showroom gallery or office to meet the designer, buy their products and support small businesses.

Speaking about the event, Khadija Al Bastaki, Executive Director of d3, said: “As the region’s leading retail capital, Dubai has a dynamic fashion industry that continues to see homegrown companies find fame on the global stage. But how many people in the UAE can name some of the best up-and-coming designers or regularly wear their garments? Many more after the d3 Fashion Showcase is over, we hope. Through thenew event, we want to demonstrate the diversity of talent and help people discover new and exciting products. Our creative programme not only celebrates local ateliers but provides new ways to experience some of the city’s finest locally-made, contemporary and haute couture attire.

“As a proud home to some of the world’s largest fashion houses and most exciting boutique brands, including Dior and Burberry, we look forward to shining the spotlight on more of them through this exhibition.”

The first set of designers currently on display at the d3 Fashion Showcase include Blanc 8.3, Nour Chouihna, Atelier Ignacio, Bella Donna and Pearla.

Blanc 8.3 is a contemporary womenswear label made to inspire women to explore their individuality. The brand aesthetics is known for using minimalistic and innovative cuts and unique textiles paired with conceptual colour palettes, which caters to fashion-forward women. On display at d3 Fashion Showcase are bold, abstract designs from Blanc 8.3’s Art Deco-inspired Fall/Winter ‘21 collection. The designs evoke a dynamism of modern urban culture with simple silhouettes of acute geometry and decadent details in vivid-rich colours.

An ‘underwater collection’ from Pearla will be on display as well at the event. The range is the result of a meditative experience from a deep breathing session. It combines the journey between the earth and the sky, with details transporting you to a unique classic character between the puffy dresses and touches of special fabrics embroidered for memorable moments and occasions.

From Bella Donna Atelier, visitors will find a signature piece on display that combines the sophistication and intricacy of Solstiss lace, a French lace known its diverse patterns, extensive colour palette and cutting-edge innovation, with the exquisite quality and bespoke tailoring that the brand is known for.

Fashion Showcase runs until May 2021 and is designed to shed light on the local and international haute couture industry in the region’s largest creative district.
