Supports Government-Led Digital Egypt Vision to Train 100,000 Youth in Digital Skills
Young Professional Program Accelerates Skills Build in Increasingly Digital Post-Pandemic World and Creates over 300 Jobs

CAIRO, Egypt — 28 January 2021 — Supporting Egypt’s workforce of the future and Egypt Vision 2030’s digital transformation, the German government and global technology company SAP are empowering young Egyptian talent in digital skills and careers.

Egypt’s young, tech-savvy youth are ideally positioned to take on careers in the technology field. Developing digital skills is a key part of Egypt Vision 2030, and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s Digital Egypt vision and plan that is developing ICT skills for 100,000 youth.

Supporting these initiatives, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and global enterprise application software leader SAP have graduated two more groups of Egyptian youth from SAP’s flagship digital skills build program, the SAP Young Professional Program.

The first virtual graduation was held in the presence of Ahmed Mekky, CEO, Benya Capital; Hoda Mansour, Managing Director, SAP Egypt and Levant; Marita Mitschein, Managing Director, SAP Training and Development Institute, and Senior Vice President Digital Skills, SAP Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa; as well as several partners and customers.

“At develoPPP.de, we foster the involvement of the private sector in areas where business opportunities and development initiatives overlap. Egypt has strong potential for digital jobs and growth, and we’re confident that our partnership with SAP will make an important contribution to counteracting youth unemployment and advancing the introduction of digital technology in the long-term,” said Kathinka Kurz, Head of Programme at develoPPP.de, GIZ.

The recent cohorts of the SAP Young Professional Program in Egypt are part of a collaboration between SAP and GIZ. They aim to jointly create 450 jobs for highly qualified personnel in the IT sector in 10 African countries over the course of three years. The cooperative project is part of the develoPPP.de program that GIZ implements on behalf of BMZ.

“Our Young Professional Program creates a quadruple-win: Egyptian youth land digital careers, customers and partners hire top talent, SAP enhances its Ecosystem, and the government can further Egypt Vision 2030, and accelerate the digitization of the country’s economy and society,” said Marita Mitschein, Managing Director, SAP Training and Development Institute, and Senior Vice President Digital Skills, SAP Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

During the 2-month-long Young Professional Program, recent university graduates gain ICT and future skills to become certified SAP Associate Consultants. As a result, the graduates are ideally positioned to take up employment with SAP customer or partner organizations. Worldwide, more than 99 percent of program graduates across 31 countries have been placed into meaningful jobs for the Digital Era. In Egypt, the program has created more than 300 jobs to date.

“In our discussions with Egypt’s public and private sector organizations about the future post-pandemic, they are seeing continued demand for employees with digital skills,” said Hoda Mansour, Managing Director, SAP Egypt and Levant. “Our Young Professional Program can enable recent graduates in Egypt to support organizations’ digital transformation, digital business innovations, and customer e-services.”
