Malabar Group funds IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center;
to be inaugurated by CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Kerala Day
Kozhikode : Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center through a virtual platform on November 1, Kerala Day.
The IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center has been set up by IQRAA Hospital, a healthcare venture of the JDT Islam Orphanage Committee with financial assistance provided by the Malabar Group. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by dignitaries comprising Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala, MPs PK Kunhalikutty and MK Raghavan, MLAs A Pradeep Kumar, Dr MK Muneer and Mayor Thottathil Raveendran.
The IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center reiterates Malabar Group’s avowed commitment to build a robust healthcare delivery system for poor people with an onus on access to world-class treatment facilities. Malabar Group leads business ventures such as Malabar Gold and diamonds, the largest jewellery chain in the country and Malabar developers, a real estate company already spent Rs 12 core to set up a ten storey building for IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center. As the total Set up at a cost of Rs.35 crore, the center has also received support from NGOs and Individuals such as Azim Premji Philanthropic initiative and ‘Thanal ‘ Vadakara. The center will enable kidney patients from marginalized communities to avail advanced kidney care and diagnosis facilities at affordable rates.
Once fully operational, IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center will become the largest dialysis treatment center in Kerala and help facilitate research in chronic kidney disease, treatments, and patient outcomes. The Center will enable 180 patients to avail of dialysis on a daily basis. It is also equipped with a 30-bed ICU and will facilitate kidney transplant surgeries at the lowest costs in the country. In the wake of the covid-19 outbreak, the Center will temporarily set aside beds for kidney patients affected by the pandemic.
“ Statistics from the health sector indicate that the number of kidney patients in Kerala is increasing daily. Having access to advanced care and treatment at affordable rates for poor kidney patients assumes paramount importance in such crucial times. Malabar Group has teamed with IQRAA Hospital to create world-class kidney care and diagnosis facility for kidney patients from economically marginalized sections of the society and conduct research in the field of kidney disease. I have no doubt that IQRAA Kidney Care and Research Center will emerge as one of the best kidney diagnosis and treatment centers in India,” stated MP Ahammed, Chairman, Malabar Group.
The Malabar Group has spearheaded several humanitarian activities to provide relief and rehabilitate people affected by covid-19. They have spent more than Rs 13 crore in India and the Gulf countries on the distribution of food and medicines to help those impacted by the pandemic. The Group continues to remain active in efforts to sustain communities and help them return to a life of normalcy and dignity. The Group has handed over the 50,000 sq. feet Marina Convention Center in Farook, Kerala to the government to provide medical care to covid-19 affected patients.
