Chinese students celebrate Double Ninth Festival in UAE

With the increase in the enrollment rate of Chinese students at major international universities in the UAE, more and more Chinese students are attracted to study in the UAE in economics, tourism, hotel and computer science.

In recent years, with the increase in the number of Chinese tourists coming to the UAE each year and the increase in Chinese investment there, these students have the opportunity to work during their study in the UAE, such as directly entering a company or starting a business in a diversified international environment.

Due to COVID-19 in 2020, many Chinese students were not able to return to China on the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is equivalent to China’s Thanksgiving Day and the Double Ninth Festival that people remember.

October 25, 2020 was the Chinese traditional festival Double Ninth Festival, also known as Chongyang Festival, which is on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. It is also called the Senior Citizen’s Day that it has a custom of filial piety to the elderly. This year, Chinese students spent their holidays in the UAE by visiting, traveling and shopping with friends.

Wang Feng, from Yinchuan, Ningxia, is studying in Dubai who always spend important holidays such as Spring Festival and the Double Ninth Festival with her family in China, but this year’s double Ninth Festival made it difficult for her to return home, so she used Chinese way to spend this day, and take this opportunity to express her gratitude to the 68-year-old neighbor on the occasion of the Double Ninth Festival, use Chinese way to spend this day.
