“Akshaak” launches the first Emirati e-commerce platform to support the marketing and promotion of home projects in the local and global market

Dubai, August 17, 2020: “Akshaak” launched the first Emirati digital platform for e-commerce with the aim of collecting, marketing and selling products of home-based businesses and individual projects within a unified digital platform and working to promote their products in the local and global market.

Fahim Al-Zubaidi, CEO and co-founder of the e-commerce platform, “Akshaak”, said: “Akshaak is a platform with a community vision that adopts the concept of social entrepreneurship aim at using the principles of entrepreneurship for individual, small and medium-sized enterprises, achieving material profit and social value for society. In light of the challenges facing Home commerce in social network websites, we launched the “Akshaak” platform to enhance the concept of electronic transformation and overcome the challenges facing financial trade through social media.”

Al-Zubaidi said: “Akshaak platform allows sellers to manage their stores and follow up on orders and customers as well as following their orders at any stage of the delivery. The platform also allows communication between the seller and the buyer through instant live chat instead of using private phone numbers, and there is also an evaluation process. Tracking purchases and sales increases the credibility of the platform with new customers.

On the objectives of the project, Al-Zubaidi stressed that the platform aims to provide reports on the sector through periodic data and statistics on the household trade sector, in a way that contributes to the legalization and development of this trade, as well as promoting digital transformation in the UAE in line with the UAE Vision 2021, and providing a platform that supports domestic talent and talented artisans by creating an integrated online marketplace to display and promote their products, and to organize the sales market on social media platforms through a reliable platform that confirms the identities of subscribers and guarantees the rights of consumers launching joint initiatives that contribute to the development of the sector through shared exhibitions.

Al-Zubaidi stated that the e-commerce platform “Akshaak” has succeeded in overcoming logistic difficulties in shipping products. As the logistic services provided by shipping companies always suffer from a number of defects and negatives; on top of which are high prices and disparate quality defects, and the application provides the possibility to buy in Arabic and English, which is one of the most common problems and challenges faced by e-commerce and a major obstacle for service providers who hope to own Arab stores that serve all internet shoppers.

Al-Zubaidi added, “Electronic payment continues to raise consumer concerns from application digital shoppers, but the e-commerce platform “Akshaak provides secure payment solutions to consumers through easy and simple options since the challenges of electronic payment have long been a major concern for many dealers using e-commerce platforms, especially with fraud and bank data theft, that’s prevailing.”

Al-Zubaidi continued: “Today we have 200 stores registered in the platform that provide 1000 products to various buyers and sellers within the UAE as we plan to expand in the Gulf area and then go to all Arab countries on a later stage. He indicated that the platform includes many sectors including food, beverages, health, beauty, fashion, arts, handicrafts and accessories. The platform provides payment, delivery, communication and evaluation services”.

Al-Zubaidi explained that the e-commerce platform “Akshaak” was launched for some basic goals including supporting productive families with limited income, providing them with a source of income that helps them with the burdens of life.  Also, to support the products of people of special needs and inmates of penal and correctional institutions, which helps to motivate them and involve them in the development process.

Al-Zubaidi pointed out that Akshaak e-commerce platform has concluded memoranda of understanding and cooperation with a number of governmental and semi-governmental agencies to encourage various groups of society to start their e-commerce through the platform, which is in line with the UAE’s direction to encourage partnership initiatives between public and private sectors with the aim of diversifying sources of income for the National economy.
