DUBAI-UAE, 11 June 2020 – Al Zahra Hospital Dubai (AZHD) today announced that it has earned two certifications from the Joint Commission International (JCI) for the Breast Cancer Clinical Care Program and Acute Myocardial Infraction (AMI / Heart Attack) Clinical Care Program after  comprehensive onsite assessment by the JCI surveyors in March 2020 for compliance with the 194 measurable elements of the certification requirements.

“The two certifications endorse the accomplishment of our patient care, ensure a safe environment and continually work to reduce risks to patients and staff,” as per the Director of Quality, Ms. Mervat Mansour. By attaining these two international certifications, Al Zahra Hospital Dubai becomes the first hospital in UAE to have a JCI Certified Breast Cancer Clinical Care program and the second hospital in Dubai and UAE to have a JCI Certified  Acute Myocardial Infraction Clinical Care Program.

Prior to obtaining the two certifications, AZHD has managed to secure its 3rd consecutive Joint Commission International’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its internationally recognized standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

“Amid the pandemic the world is going through, AZHD remains committed to certifying its clinical programs with The Gold Seal of approval from JCI validating excellence in the care it delivers and demonstrating that our healthcare services are dedicated to upholding extra compliance and safety standards,” explained Dr. Mohaymen Abdelghany, AZHD CEO.

In March 2020, AZHD underwent a rigorous on-site survey, during which, a team of Joint Commission International expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to a variety of areas.

“Joint Commission International accreditation provides hospitals with the processes contributing to improvements in a variety of areas from the enhancement of staff education to the demonstration of leading practices within the hospital setting,” said Paula Wilson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Joint Commission International. “We commend AZHD for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization, and achieving this pinnacle demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and quality.”

“Staff from across the organization continue to work together to develop and implement approaches and strategies that have the potential to improve care for the patients in our community, especially during these challenging times,” Dr. Abdelghany explained.
