Peru reached USD 24 million in business expectations during Expo Peru Dubai
Commercial platform becomes the first activity in Dubai on the way to Expo 2020 Dubai, an important event that meets our goals for the Independence Bicentenary.
Delegation promoted export offer and tourist attractions in the United Arab Emirates. Each Peruvian company had 15 business appointments with 115 buyers from 13 countries.
DUBAI – November 30, 2019: The business expectations of the nearly 100 export entrepreneurs and tour operators who participated in the recently held Peru Dubai Expo reached US $ 24 million, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERU) revealed.
A global agenda record was broken in this destination market of the Asian continent as each Peruvian company had an average of 15 business meetings with 115 buyers from 13 countries due to the coordinated effort of the Peruvian commercial office in that country.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Edgar Vásquez, who led the mission, held meetings with the presidents of DP World and the Emirates Group, in order to encourage investments in Peru. Likewise, it pursues to improve connectivity to consolidate the Peru-Dubai binomial as the hub for the South American Pacific, the Arab world and the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, respectively.
A land payment ceremony was held on what the Peru pavilion at the World Expo 2020 will be. In fact, Peru is one of the first countries in the continent to move forward with its participation strategy of a total of over 150 countries, information that was highlighted by Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, executive director of this exhibition.
ROAD TO EXPO 2020 DUBAI
The symbolic land payment ceremony held at Expo Peru Dubai marks the beginning of the road to Expo 2020 Dubai, an event of great international interest that meets the importance of our Peru Bicentenary anniversary.
This promotional effort, developed by MINCETUR and PROMPERÚ together with the private sector, will allow Peruvians to access new markets of global importance, both to offer our best export products and to make Peru a more attractive destination for international tourists.
It is important to point out that Dubai is considered the third largest re-export platform in the world, where 55% of the world’s container load is managed. In addition, the United Arab Emirates are among the 15 most important markets of Peruvian exports.
Among the activities that took place in Dubai, PROMPERÚ highlighted an international pisco contest as part of the Pisco is Peru campaign, with the participation of seven bartenders from the same number of Asian countries, in which the representative of Hong Kong, from Japanese nationality, won.
